Lessons

Singing on your own in front of someone can be nerve-wracking even for the most confident of people but, as you are hopefully looking for lessons because you love singing, I want to ensure your lessons are a relaxed, friendly and fun experience. It is important to me to take time to understand your goals - have you always sung for fun but want to gain confidence in your own voice; are you returning to an old hobby and want to develop your skills; do you want to work on songs for a particular performance; or need help with a specific vocal technique?

I can help you to learn how to use your instrument to it's full potential. I believe that the core fundamentals of singing - such as posture, breath control, diction and general musicality - remain the same regardless of what genre you enjoy singing and I can help you to get the foundations in place to get the best from your voice and, in turn, give you a sense of achievement and confidence in your ability. I believe everyone can sing, you just many not have been shown the techniques to unlock your voice.

I offer lessons for people of all ages and abilities and across a range of genre. I am classically trained (I hold a Diploma in Music Performance from ABRSM), have a real passion for musical theatre, but am also experienced in singing and teaching folk, pop and rock music. Whether you just want to sing for fun with no agenda, or if you want to perform regularly or track your development with formal exams (at present I offer Trinity Classical Singing and Rock & Pop Vocals and LCM Musical Theatre), I can help you improve your technique and develop your repertoire accordingly. If you would like to develop a broader understanding of music I can also teach elements of music theory and help you to start to read music.

After a initial trial lesson or two, the majority of my pupils attend lessons on a regular basis; the frequency of this can be adjusted to suit - weekly, fortnightly, monthly. Lessons take place in the relaxed environment of my home-based music studio and prices start from £17.25 for half an hour.
